Author School Visits

Scheduling an author visit for your school is a great way to inspire children and bring reading to life.

Susan leads the students in a fun yoga class, and also talks about the book writing process.

Perfect for elementary schools, home school groups, libraries, youth organizations, and clubs.

Pre-Planning the Event

• What are your goals? Do you want to encourage reading and writing? Or do you want to introduce your students to yoga? A combination of both?

• Who is the presentation for? Is it for the whole school, or just certain grade levels? An Hour, A Half Day, or Full Day? (Rates vary according to time involved.)

• Practical arrangements: If doing yoga, be sure students have enough space. Susan will need a table and a microphone. Please leave a little time between sessions if doing more than one presentation.

• Prepare your pupils: Read and discuss Susan’s book and build up excitement around the visit. Make sure you have her book available in the library. (Susan will send 2 copies after contract is signed.)

• Book Sales: Susan will provide flyers to send home with the kids to order books. She will bring personalized signed copies for all pre-orders, and extra books for day of event sales.

Day of the Event

• Meet and greet: Be available to guide Susan to where she will be presenting. Confirm schedule and help with any technology. Have book order forms/checks organized.

After the event

• Teachers can talk with their classes: Discuss the visit and what your students enjoyed most. They may like to write individual or class letters to thank the author. Susan will make available her 23 page Activity Booklet to facilitate learning.
