Time to Publish!
After all the waiting and worrying, I finally had illustrations and the text laid in, and the final files were in my computer. Now what the heck do I do?? Time to upload the files to Ingram Spark, the printer/distributor I had selected to work with. Sounds simple, right? After a lot of back and forth, filling out metadata (all the info about the book) and setting the distributor discounts (s0 they make money when they sell your book,) I waited for my eProof, so see what it would look like. This took overnight, but by the next morning, there it was. The first proof of that my book was going to happen. From there, I ordered just one book to see the real thing after it is printed. There are sometimes issues at this point with the printing, sometimes with the color, or with the bleed. After 2 more week, it finally arrived. I held in my hands a real copy of y book, the physical manifestation of the hard work and energy I had put out in the last 8 months. It really was like having a baby! From there, I told Ingram Spark to distribute the book, and in a day or two, it was live on Amazon. And I was officially a published children’s book author! What a great feeling that was!
